RESCUED      TIGERS

Learn More About Each Rescued Tiger Here at the Sanctuary - Including Each Rescue Story.

The Wild Animal Sanctuary-Texas currently houses 17 Tigers that were rescued from illegal or abusive situations. Following each rescue operation, our Tigers are provided with individualized medical and rehabilitation care. Each Tiger is giving as much time as needed to adjust to their new home prior to be released into large acreage habitats - providing them with a forever home.

ARUSHA

Arusha, Akbar, & Kumar came to TWAS-Texas at 5 weeks old due to licensing issues at another facility. All three tigers are known for their affectionate, confident and secure behaviors. They show this affection towards each other by laying together, grooming each other and going to sleep with their paws around each other, even though tigers are solitary animals in the wild. They enjoy a spacious habitat with a big pool, trees, perches and many enrichment items to play with. Arusha was named by the Stevenson Foundation who generously donated funds needed to build her habitat.

NAHLA

Nahla was found wandering on Coral Cove Pass in Conroe, TX. She managed to escape a private property when rain had flooded the building. As a result, she ended up wandering the streets of Conroe. Thereafter, she was taken to the Conroe City Animal Shelter for temporary holding. During this time, the private owner stepped forward and was in violation of city ordinance for having a captive Tiger within city limits. A hearing was held and temporary custody was awarded to the City of Conroe with TWAS-Texas ruled as her permanent home. Interestingly enough, the morning of her transport to TWAS-Texas, a masked individual broke into the Conroe Animal Shelter and it determined he/she was after Nahla.

PRINCE

Prince was rescued from a Coryell County private property. All of the animals on the property were found living in very poor environmental conditions. Prince along with Princess and Duchess were brought to TWAS-Texas after a judge granted permanent custody of the 300 plus animals rescued from a private property. Prince was quite anxious to get into his new habitat when he arrived. He now enjoys a large habitat with a pool, perches, a cave and other enrichment items to play with. Even during the cooler months, you will see him enjoying taking a dip in his pool.

TITAN

Titan was rescued from a circus after TWAS-Texas received a call from the USDA inquiring about a new home for a Tiger. Since this was a traveling circus, and the outfit was leaving that night, our staff headed out same day to rescue Titan. He was being kept in a 6'5"x 7'3" cage where all he could do was stand up and barely turn around. He now enjoys his spacious habitat consisting of trees, grass, perches, a pool and plenty of enrichment items to play with. Titan will never have to perform for anyone again. He enjoys his forever home here at TWAS-Texas where he receives the best possible care everyday.

Tigers are the largest in size of all the wild cats. They are often associated with traits of fearlessness, courage, and strength.

One of the most wonderful ways to help our Animals is through our Adoption Program. It's also a great personalized gift for a family member or friend, showing you care in the most meaningful way...
